Randalstown Central Primary School

Football Tournament June 2016

14th Jun 2016

The school entered two 5-a-side teams into a tournament organised by Mr Ian Kernohan and Mr James Harvey.

It was a super idea for the Primary Sevens to have one last primary school football event, and with Ian's long connection to the PTA and his long support of the school, we were more than happy to take part, knowing, like everything else Ian's organised, it would be well run.

I was pleased to invite ALL the local schools to take part and was delighted that Mount St Michael's PS, Maine Integrated PS and Ballycraigy PS expressed an interest to join us in the tournament.

The event consisted of 8 teams who took part in a competitive but friendly atmosphere.

In our 'A' team's first match they played and beat Mount St Michael's 'A' team.  The 'A' team went on to win all their other group matches and secured their place in the Final.

Our 'B' team also played brilliantly and made their way to a play-off with Mount St Michael's 'A' team, to have the right to play our 'A' team in the Final.

The 'B' team narrowly lost the play-off and the scene was set for second final of the season between the 'Central' and Mount St Michael's PS.

The final was close, but our boys tired a little and Mount St Michael's narrowly beat us to pick up the trophy.

ALL of the boys represented the school exceptionally well and it's hard to be disappointed with Second and Third place in an eight team competition.

Well done to all those involved !
